Screwed onto the tip of a cows horns, usually both horns, to stop them causing injury when they get frisky. The thread inside is quite coarse and there is sometimes a hole in the other end where the horn is meant to protrude a little. Sometimes they have nicks around the edge of the knob to provide grip when screwing them on. They have been around for a long time but this one looks fairly recent. It is made of brass.
