Title: Pendant or Ornament or a Wotsit?? Post by: Markey Sparkey on March 24, 2011, 07:38:28 PM My first proper go with a detector on Monday 21st March.Found a couple of things in a couple of hours.The above item measures 51mm long by 11mm at its widest point.There is some plating/gilding on it some say gold some say silver.The fastening ring is certainly iron and was intact when dug up but has since broken(heavy hands strike again).It was taken from a front lawn of a mansion built around 1900 which used to be a smallholding with servants.I'm guessing its some sort of pendant or possibly a decorative hanging on something else.Any more information would be most welcome.

It is quite heavy for its size but don't think its a lead base.There is some greening at the point if that helps.thanks..
