Title: Seven go to Button Moon
Post by: Chef Geoff on July 12, 2011, 05:19:54 PM
As the clock struck 11 on Monday morning Button Moon saw 7 members, some with hangovers I might add ;D, descend on 3 fields that have seen us before, Pickings were slim not helped by the blistering sunshine, But as you may of seen Tafflaff had a "still to be decided who?" hammy and a very nice ornate spur rawl which I hope he will add a picture of, plus this Charles I rose farthing

While decent finds were thin on the ground the fields kept up their reputation of constantly producing buttons, some of which could of been Ray's who kept ripping his clothes off :D

Still dealing with a hangover Pipster couldn't seem to work out why he couldn't hear anything

Meanwhile Nomad had somehow managed to find some really long grass....or was it quicksand ???

The evening before, Roman Ray had found the lovely silver ring which he has posted and I had recovered a worn Lizzy halfgroat.

Personally my other finds included:-
A copper Vicky first coinage halfpenny, rare'ish and from 1846

I also had a spur rawl but of the smaller variety

A promise of something nice
(http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/Polden/polden%201/polden%203/camping005.jpg)
but it wasn't to be
(http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/Polden/polden%201/polden%203/camping023.jpg)

An ornate but broken "Thing"
Threepenny bit
(http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/Polden/polden%201/polden%203/camping004.jpg)

A 1665 Bristol Farthing
(http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv294/Chef_02/Polden/polden%201/polden%203/camping028.jpg)
A small gilded fob, but as usual the intaglio has long gone.

And last but not least, my detecting day wouldn't be complete without my customary Roman grot.
