Post by: topcat on February 12, 2012, 12:52:59 AM
I have been searching my local beach yesterday i cleared an area 3mx3m of 15 £1 coins and some other coins i went back today and found more coins i only found 3 pull tabs i then i had a deep signal on the e Trac and dug down about 1ft and saw a gold coin at the bottom of the hole it was a gold half guinea of George 11 1747 in very good condition it was a nice suprise , i will go back again before the sand returns :D

That's a beauty and made twice as good turning up on the beach. Now the big question is, was it dropped on the beach or washed up from a wreck :o ???

it was under the stone and slate layer near the slipway if it had moved about it would not be as sharp as it is so i think it was lost a long time ago in the same position that i found it i went back today but i have cleared all the coins and found no other old finds i think all the £1 coins had been moved to where i found them by the sea and tide into a glory hole , i have found no rings yet on the beach but i will keep on trying
