Title: Lead bell thingy ? Post by: SpineyDave on March 05, 2012, 08:58:59 PM Hi, I had a plesant couple of hours on a new field today, and i came across this lead helmet / bell shaped thingy. it hollow, stands about 2" tall and 2" across the bottom. There's a hole in the top, and two slots, one either side, near the bottom. It's a fair old lump.

Apparently it's a cow's horn straightener. The thing slips over the horn and two leather straps are adjusted to put tension on the horn to pull it the right way ! Well there you go.
