Title: Couple of hammereds for ID guys.
Post by: Neil on March 23, 2012, 05:56:25 PM
Tonights two offerings, both found last year . . .

I am presuming they are both Edwards, but any help with which Edward they are, the mint and moneyer would be appreciated.

First one is 18mm across

Second one 17mm across

Cheers guys - few more to go yet.

Only you Bob would think they need cleaning!  ;) - although granted they could lose the dried earth on them! Found on seperate DW rallies last year!

Nice coins Neil.

They are both pennies of that complicated late Edward I/Edward II period.

I think the first one is Edward I, somewhere around class 10cf2, and the second is Edward II, class 11a.

Thanks Peter - I was sure they were Edwards, but wasn't sure on the reign

Always impresses me how you do it

Cheers
Neil
