Title: How do you replace an Explorer handgrip?
Post by: Neil on July 07, 2012, 01:29:05 PM
I am giving my Explorer II a bit of a service and have bought new hand grip and arm cup, etc. For the life of me I cant think how to get the foam grip onto the handle! It might have something to do with a hangover from Hell today.

You can't just roll it on because of the metal stand behind the battery compartment.

Any help please?

Cheers

LOL. You have to remove the stand. Just undo the two main screws from the main body and the smaller one that holds the stand, then the body will just open up enough for you to remove the stand ;)

Cheers for the advice Chef and not so much Mike! Its way past superglue - likes a dog has chewed it!

I think I will be opting for a squash raquet wrap now.

You can use plumbing foam insulation 22mm, about 9 handle grips for about a £1, but fit it the chef way, lol

Hi Neil you can get a foam grip they use on fishing rods which is quite big to start with which you slide over the handle then you warm it up with a hairdrier and it shrinks to a perfect fit. Searcher (rod) done this to his and it looks perfect, drop him a pm and he will go through it with you ,hope this helps ;)
