 42.3 g and 60 x 13.75 mm  :o would of done a bit of damage .........can anyone date it at all ? Thanks........... 8)

Most likely .505 heavy machine gun round .

It's a bit to small for a .505 or the normal .50 caliber ??? It's probably an aircraft machine gun round from WW II but from which side is another question. 13.75 sounds more like the other side to me :-\

I agree Geoff the calibre is larger than a .50 cal ,  but thats excluding any impact distortion.
Another possibility after a quick look on Wiki pages may suggest a WW1 German anti tank round . That would be a bit of a heavy souvineer  to bring home from the trenches
