Title: Snap goes the Tendon
Post by: Tafflaff (Rob) on November 26, 2012, 01:13:24 AM
Ahhhh well, thats me out of detecting for 6-8 weeks.

Pushing a van out of the mud at todays rally and I heared a loud popping type thwack. My arm went limp and I knew I'd messed up big time.

Took my top off in the car and there was nothing where my bicep should be and an extra bicep near my armpit. Somehow I dont think my body got the anatomy memo.

Anyhow, after a rather exiting trip home which included peasouper fog, heavy rain and both my wipers giving up the ghost, I got my wife to take me to casualty as by now I was in agony.

6 hours later and its confirmed, total seperation by trauma of the bicep tendon where it meets the elbow. Scan, surgery and 6 - 8 weeks immobilisation of said arm.

Apart from that , it was a good day.

"Blimey Rob".  You certainly don't do thing by half do you? I wish you well bro and hope for a speedy return to the
fold. Going to be very frustrating for you just watching others doing the business but you have to immobilize that type
of injury or you can hinder recovery times, so listen to the doc's.

Best wishes

Now on a more sympathetic note; Ahhhh!, never mind.

Hey Rob, look on the bright side.........It wasn't as if you were any good anyway lol

On the upside though, the arm did dot fall off overnight. The downside is that its hurting so much, I wish it had  ;)

It says a lot for Rob's dedication to DW that even after his excruciating injury he came with me to look at the fields for the Christmas rally and make arrangements for parking etc.

Get well soon Rob.

jeezus Rob really sorry to hear that , especially just so near to Christmas. Hope you're not self employed  ::)

Thats the trouble when we get older ..... we still have the memory of what we used to be physically capable of doing ....

Pity our equipment is not still in the same shape as our memory  ;D ;D

Sometimes better not to know. As I have trouble with one of my knees I was interested to watch a replacement op. Wish I hadn't.  :o
My friend had it done under local anesthetic. Said she didn't feel a thing and was very surprised to see her leg thrown around like a sack of spuds. :o

Any news from the Hospital yet ?

Nothing Val yet, yet the state of Royal Glam personnel wise is appalling. Methinks I may have it done by one of the grounds keepers a scythe and some gardening string.

The only thing I can think, as you can't snap a bicep by pushing (wrong muscle) is that he was actually trying to pick the van up :o This would normally of been OK for Rob but little did he know that the van was packed with green kryptonite  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
