It looks quite brassy, so sonic bath should do the trick.

put it on the UKDFD site theyll tell you what it is,i was thinking the handle bit to a fire poker maybe?

Good idea about the poker handle Jason but I would think it would be thicker if it was a handle off something. It's only about 4 to 5 mm thick and feels uncomfortable to hold in the hand. It points more to a badge of some description but I cant see any signs of it ever having a fixing at the back. I would have brought it to the club meeting for all to see, but unfortunately I'm nights on Wed and unable to get time off due to a backlog of work.

Apparently the Eagle / bird is not Roman I sent pictures of the said bird to Mark Lodwick S Wales FLO and he is not sure what it's off but it's not Roman . But never mind now I know.

Yes Chris I've not cleaned the token too much but used an eraser as you said, and then used a fibreglass pen on it and it's come up quite nice. Worn in places but that's what can be expected.  :)

That token has a great design on it and a long way from Walthamstow. I might go back to that field tomorrow or Thursday.
