Title: Re: Token or celtic??? Post by: Chef Geoff on April 27, 2013, 05:35:38 AM nice bit of silver, well done. Is the small bronze single sided? It's "similar" to a Bronze stater of the Durotriges ??? What part of the country are you?

Need to see other side longdog, does it have a design and is it dished at all, first impressions doesn't look Celtic, more like a token of sorts ??? :-\Title: Re: Token or celtic??? Post by: Chef Geoff on April 27, 2013, 08:06:35 AM Your probably right Paul though copper alloy "tallies" are quite unusual. the concave shape, though classic isn't a necessity. The dots do look a little regular and the location, if found in Herefordshire, could be a little too far north for a Bronze version but the reverse would be the clincher.
Here's a pick of a bronze stater................ Title: Re: Token or celtic??? Post by: Da Monkey on April 27, 2013, 04:42:56 PM Well we cleaned it up a bit Geoff & Spikey and both agree that it is a leaden token, the colouration was down to soil on the surface, nice token though :)
