                   Revisited my favourite field and put in a full morning with the finds coming quick and fast. Recovered about £4 in decimal, 6 old copper coins, and a small bag of scrap for next years weigh in. Only gave up after a big shaggy dog peed in my bag and contaminated my lunch!  :'(

Way to go Chris, that looks like a good finds rate lets hope there's some older stuff to come.

Blimey Chris I should think you were glad of an excuse to pack up.  Your back must be feeling like you entered Mr.Universe contest.  That's what you call a good mornings detecting. ;)

I, on the other hand, have just got back with aching arm. I only lasted 2 1/2 hours. Tiny field, hedges all round and boy was it hot. Plenty of iron, not much else and I've got the smell of slurry stuck up my nose. They were spreading the field I wanted try when I got there so went next door.

                       I never come away empty handed from this site but as of yet I haven't had any spectacular finds. With this morning's decimals, I have now had just over £20 and there seems to be no end to the modern coinage coming out of the site. It also throws up all sorts of odds and ends. Bits of AA shells, lead, brass, and copper scraps. I even got this brass thingy this morning. I recon that it is an ornamental brass stand for an old fashioned flat iron.

                       It sure was hot Val, but in my case not so smelly. Mind you the bag and my lunch smelled real doggy. I bet the cheese and onion crisps would have tasted like salt and vinegar!   :P

Thats a great day out Chris. That brass thingy is called a trivet, as you said it's for a flat iron, although people had some for kettles and pots and pans. Yours is a particularly nice one

Looks like you had a busy day Chris, well done. I had a few hours out , got a Vicky sixpence and a pocketful of mastitis tubes !

                the brass thingy is about 6.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide at its widest point. It now only has one leg, so it is destined for the scrap weigh in next year.  ;)

               with the finds coming out fast and furious I was going to stick it out till teatime, but when the dog peed on me lunch and left me gagging for a drink by lunch time, I gave up. It was a great pity that you and Richie couldn't have joined me; someone had cut big areas of the long grass and detecting was considerably easier.

                Sorry that you and Chris couldn't make it for today but never mind, perhaps we can organise an other day.  ;)

                 Up until now, every day has been a good day on this site but next week I'm going to hang me bag on a six foot fence!  ::)

                 With so many targets coming so quickly it has given me some five weeks of superb practice with the EuroAce and the Nel Tornado coil. My pinpointing has improved no end and I can't wait to get onto my new permission and get to work on several fields that have never been detected.  ;)
