Title: buddy system
Post by: chantalpoole on May 26, 2014, 11:07:12 AM
So i had been to Fishguards fourtnightly dig yesterday and it had started raining , so everyone packed up and went home. As i was traveling the coast road i saw this little bay so forgetting about the rain decided to see how i could get down to it.
Sadly it was a mission improbable without breaking your leg or arm or falling down the cliff.
As i walked back up the steep hill i saw a man and a lad standing watching me grinning.I was waiting for the ''have you found the crown jewels''  joke and got my witty retort ready.
Turns out this guy was chairman of his local group in county durham and was on holiday checking out possible local detecting areas. He had his fisher f75 and the boy had his Deus back at the caravan.
We talked for close to an hour , he identified a couple of finds i had in my finds pouch ,we chatted about the FLO and various detectors on the market.
He was asking if i knew of any good spots to detect and i directed him to a couple of beaches where the sand was low, i also told him he should have put a post on detectingwales saying he was visiting the area and i could have taken him to the dig id been to that morning. He said he would do that next time.
It got me thinking that some sort of buddy system across the different forums where people can offer to buddy up with people on holiday. So if you go to cornwall on holiday you can meet up with someone locally who knows the area.

Good idea Chantal, maybe there could be a visitors request section added to the site.
