Title: Explorer batteries
Post by: welsh john on August 12, 2014, 06:24:00 PM
Hi everyone,
What is the best way to use the rechargeable battery that is supplied with the explorer.
Is it best to discharge them before recharging, or just top them up the day before you go detecting?
no matter how much power is left after you last used them?
Some say that they can develop a memory if not fully discharged before recharging and will not last as long in future.
doe's anyone know.???

 i use these
http://www.duracell.co.uk/en-gb/products/duracell-rechargeable/duracell-rechargeable-batteries (http://www.duracell.co.uk/en-gb/products/duracell-rechargeable/duracell-rechargeable-batteries)
not meant to lose very much charge capacity and garanteed for 5 years , seem to go a couple of full days detecting  before i need to recharge,( if used with their charger only take around 1 hour to recharge)
Have used other rechargeable but every time you recharge they seem to lose a bit capactity

Hi John no no need to discharge them before charging as they are NiMH and so don't build up a memory ;)

Hi John
As Chef says a NiMh power source does,nt hold memory like the older Nicad,s used to.
As Nimh looses power very quickly at the end of its cycle its a case of getting to know your rechargables.
