Title: Axehead
Post by: Mark on June 06, 2009, 09:59:10 PM
Found this today, first signal after first five steps.  I think its Bronze Age but cannot be sure until I let my local FLO have a look.  It was a pleasure to find though  :D ;D

That was one of the quickest finds I’ve seen, something like 20 seconds into it! :o :o

Yeah I would go with that. Broken off tip of a Bronze Age socketed Axe of about 1000 BC. Nice find and now where is the rest of it.  ;D Would like to see it in scale and what is it,s metal content.

That's nice Mark, tantalising piece, sometimes broken as an offering so they say.

hmmm it don't look to be a bronze age axe to me more like a peice of plough shard,  hmm  is that iron or bronze

It's made of bronze Alan, but the patina does make it look like iron.
