Title: Latest Roman
Post by: celticspikey on July 31, 2015, 07:17:44 PM
My last few finds from the roman site grass field. The Denarius is Antonius Pius, the 3 bronzes are the best of about 10 coins found, the grass is growing longer each day so may have to wait until its cut again. Can you spot the bronze grot lying on the mole hill. :)

Well done Paul I got "the" phone call today from one farmer telling me they have started harvest so I'll hopefully be able to offer some Roman of my own soon enough ;)

Look forward to it Geoff, I noticed on of my fields cut today unfortunately it was rape although the farmer was in there tearing up and down the field it was barely loosening the high stalks  :( I was trying to work the tractor lines but gave up, hopefully he will flatten stalks over the weekend.  ;)

Well done again Paul.  Just proves Moles are good for something.  I never miss a mole hill if I see one but never found anything in or on one yet.  I live in hope.

Must say I wish I'd got a couple of field like yours.  There don't seem to be many nice flat, smooth fields over this way.  They all seem to be 'gently sloping woodland'  sort of 1 in 4 if you know what I mean.   Still the saying goes What don't kill ya makes ya stronger.   ::)

Hi Jay, in the past they have been  ploughed together so most of my time has been in the main field, I've had fields next to sites that produces absolutely nothing in finds department, that said it is clearly worth concentrating on and will do, it does have pott on the surface so clearly must have finds as well. I will try and catch it when it is rolled and report. ;)

Great condition, I love it when they come out like that a quality bronze with a nice patina don't need any work done to them!!
