ADMIN(Geoff) any ideas when the next detectingwales.com rally is please ;) ???

We have stacks of farms available for rallies thanks to the hard work and generosity of Tafflaff (Rob) and Millsy. We had arranged to hold a rally very soon after Highbridge but I was a little disappointed with the number of finds that came up from Highbridge. I think the finds were there but the fact that it was a flood plane put them just out of reach of our detectors. As the next farm was going to be in the same area and the same type of land we decided to put that one off.

I'll let you know as soon as we've decided on a new location for the next rally.

Hello Geoff  :) you are right about highbridge and the surrounding areas due to past flooding anything good is definately out of range of our machines :( saying that I must give credit to you and neil for your the effort put into organising the rallys and forum and to TAFFLAFF  AND MILLSEY for obtaining the LAND without which we won,nt be able to hold rallys!! can we make Rob and Alan honoury members ??? ??? for services to DetectingWales.Com  ::) ::)mole

Don't forget ALTINKUM (Mike) lads, he found the land for our first rally at Llansannor. :) :)

i support all the comments listed. very gratefull to you all. the finders cannot gaurentee any finds they can only get the land. again thanks to all

anywhere really as longs theres been Roman activity there and not flood plains LoL

I'm not sure that items were just too deep at the last Highbridge rally the whole area of the Somerset levels was probably flooded in medieval times and the Rookbridge rally area was only about a mile away as the crow flies !!! I am more inclined to think the fields we used on that day had not had the same amount of activity as the Rookbridge area in medieval times, perhaps being closer to the village. You just cannot tell what's under the ground until you carry out a search.

If it aint there you won,t find it. Like every one else I found about forty of them penicillin tubes along with a few grotty coins a nice silver sixpence etc, etc then right at the end of the day I got a signal that turned out to be what looked like a bike spanner but what I found interesting was that above it with my first turn of the turf Came out some Black burnished ware Roman period pottery. I would say that during the construction of the motor way a lot of levelling and ground build up has gone on and would expect major disturbance either side of the motorway for a good distance and there were a lot of filled in waterways and broken drainage pipes as well. Lots and lots of disturbance.

Gazza , we're still working on the next rally , no E mails sent out cos theres no rally yet.
