Title: Ridge and Furrow Post by: Metal Mickey on July 02, 2009, 07:08:38 PM I was just wondering if any of you detect on "Ridge and Furrow"?
I have quite a bit of land like this but as yet I've never really found much on it! I presume that any finds are likely to be quite deep but do you think they will be in the High or Low bits? I don't think the land has been ploughed for a very long time.. Title: Re: Ridge and Furrow Post by: waltonbasinman on July 03, 2009, 05:46:29 PM Have recently been in a ridge and furrow field and found nothing at all. Have spoke to people in the past about it as well and a common theme rises. Most people find nothing.

Title: Re: Ridge and Furrow Post by: 16.5DD (richard) on July 03, 2009, 09:56:15 PM the best finds come from the ones that only show slight remains on ridge and furrow as they have been ploughed out so to speal .also big mistake made by many they aren't on ridge and furrow but old orchards that were repl;anted in victorian or later.
a little show is better !!!!! there again i would rather see pea gravel 4 inches down on a medi or roman site.... beep beep |
