Title: Advance warning - next DetectingWales.com rally
Post by: proconsul on July 06, 2009, 08:49:00 PM
Thanks to DIGGA who has found us some land, we are looking to hold the next DetectingWales.com rally on Sunday 26th July, all being well. We still have a few details to iron out but I will make an announcement as soon as everything is confirmed.

OK, we're flexible at this stage. If a large number of our RARE members won't be able to make the Sunday how about Saturday 25th July?

daf.vinci, all DetectingWales.com members are entitled to attend our rallies as long as they're over 16 years old (legal reasons).

hi romano, bit unfair that if you was to take the regular rare members from a dw rally then that would be a big drop in attendance, the same if you take the cardiff scan members out so please dont knock the regulars,

Post by: Gadget(Ian) on July 07, 2009, 09:47:56 PM
Well said Kane.
Detecting Wales has always been supported strongly by RARE and Cardiff Scan and as rob stated it is a unwriten rule that D.W will try not to run a rally that conflicts with any other club rally.

Quite right men  :o holding rallys is very benefical to each and every member of DETECTING WALES wether affilliated to a club  or independent  so it,s in everyones interest that rally dates don,nt clash with each other this is the democrautic way to run things no more sour grapes just enjoy yourselves ;) ;)mole

Saturday is fine for me too - either day.
Flipper - I have mooted to the idea of joint digs / rallies between Cardiff Scan and R.A.R.E. - hopefully we will do this in the near future.  I think it is a lot easier for DW to offer a date for a rally and individuals / members across several clubs attend - to organize an event between clubs is more time consuming - by the time it is discussed in both committees, then at the next club meetings with the members ..................... it is a bit like getting to the top of the stairs and wondering why you went up in the first place  ;D ;D

Geoff (Admin) - can you set up an area on DW web site for clubs to post their rally / events dates, so then we don't all try and hold something on the same day?  Obviously, this will only work providing someone from each club remembers to put a posting in that area ! :D

Its my Fawlt our Rally (RARE) wasnt posted on the forum I was going to wait untill tonight after our club night to Post Ops lol

Our rally on the 26th July  Is our 20th Birthday Token Hunt/BBQ
We had to cancel Our Annual Beach Token hunt and we planned to have an token hunt end of last year but that didnt come off,so the moneys we would have spent is going into the B/d Rally so its going to be a biggy  ;D

Thanks Digga for your consideration and other members of the DW forum

Well done digga for finding some land for us to go and its great news you are trying to sort out a alternative date on which to hold the rally.

Title: Re: Advance warning - next DetectingWales.com rally
Post by: proconsul on July 08, 2009, 07:18:00 PM
I was thinking that, Rob. We already have a functioning site calendar that members can add events to in the menu in the top left of the screen. Clubs could add their events to that or we could create a separate rally calendar.

I'll be there on any of the dates.

Forget the rest ... just tell the boys from the west and we will be there.

DW has members from many different clubs and it is rediculous for people to complain they have a rally on the same day and ask for the date to be changed.

If DW changes the days to suit every club there will be no rallies whatsoever any weekend and members should be grateful they are holding rallies for us and they have the opportunity to attend it on the specified date.

Digga... the farmer was good enough to say yes for us to have a rally so why risk upsetting him by going back to ask for a different date or day because it does not suit some people because they can't make it on that day for whatever reason?

Why should you anyway? I for one appreciate your efforts and my advice would be to get a date suitable for the farmer and stick to it.

People can then either go to the rally or go elsewhere.... their choice !!.

AS Kane said, if you take out a lot of the regulars from the scan club or the Rhondda and your a lot of cash down, your not talking just one or two members here.

DW has members from many different clubs and it is rediculous for people to complain they have a rally on the same day and ask for the date to be changed.
Whats that about, ???? i don't notice anybody complaining or asking for the dates to be changed cos they can't make it,
they excepted it

they have just said they can't make it on that date,

Thank you alan well put mate i was thinking exactly that when i seen the post from Malcolm.mtts.members just said they would not be available on that date and would not be able to attend. Admin decided to change the date so that there would be Sufficient numbers to hold a rally. Admin are doing a great job so dont try and make it more difficult than it needs to be.

May I suggest, that a representative of each club informs Geoff of any planned Rallys, this way clashes will not occur. It could also work the other way by DW letting clubs know about future arranged Rallys.

I suggest a volunteer from each club to come forward and keep the two way communication going.

I know that rare changed a rally date the other day so as not to clash with the Highbridge rally.

But lets not let this get into a muck throwing match guys, we're all taking part in the same hobby we should be helping each other out as much as possible.

Hi Rob
I'm happy to post Cardiff Scan dates - Geoff (Admin) is on board with an area on DW site for all clubs to post dates. I think a calendar is a good idea - especially if it is in permanent view on the Home page.
We need as many people as possible turning up to the DW rallies, as we don't want to be in a situation where Geoff is out of pocket - don't forget guys and gals, Geoff has to pay the farmer whether 1 person turns up or 40. :)
Well done on changing the date Digga ;D

Dig It (Aidie) said ... I am not trying to stir anything up but once a date is given to a D.W rally i think it should stand at that !It sounds like the old Club rubbish is taking over this site again !The way i look at it is you have a choice DW rally or club rally .THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

Well said.

DIGGA was good enough to find us a farm and organise a date with the farmer and if people decide to go or not is their choice as Aidie said.

So let's face reality ... a club has a rally and bbq on that day so the numbers may be down because of that.... so what?  There are far more people unable to attend because they are on holiday or away that weekend so should DIGGA change the dates yet again to suit them? ... Obviously not !!

Would DW change the start times of the rallies to 12.00 mid-day in future because many of the members who attend the rallies are from West Wales because they often have a 1 or 2 hour drive to get to the rallies? ... Obviously not !!

Days and times of rallies are being arranged for us and as Dig Itt (Aidie) said.. THE CHOICE IS YOURS if you go to them or not.

Money has been mentioned.... that is easy to resolve... if not enough people sign up for the rally ... CANCEL IT.... SO EASY TO DO.

I think  :( we should stop this infighting its not doing any good for all the people on this forum wether your fom east or west !! north what differance doe,s it make the fact is Geoff Neil and Rob aided by the likes Millsey Digga Altinkum ect are trying to accomodate  everybody apparently some people think the forum should be perfect  ??? to these people I say look around you it,s an imperfect world  ::) further more when people complain they have,nt got any land to detect on it seems a bit of a contradiction to criticise the scheduling of rallys something akin to shooting oneself in both feet ;D ;D your doing a grand job boys  ;) ;) mole

Hi All

Seeing ive posted every RARE event eg.Partys,Token Hunts, Beach Hunts Bus trips on the forum since the Forum started id be happy to post our events on a new Board should this be needed

Most of our Events these days are over the bridge at Large rallies mostly in the South west of the country
Very often ive seen and spoken to DW members from other clubs and individuals at the rallys so you wouldnt only be looseing only RARE members if the rallies booked for the same day

As Rob Put it ,its an unspoken rule not to clash with club event Geoff even kindy Started Running the event on a Saturday not to clash with club rallys.

I know i speak for every RARE member when i say we wouldnt want ANY club to miss out on a days detecting on a DW Rally as we regard our new found friendship with other clubs very highly

Im Sure Geof admin and the Field finders would like us ALL to enjoying the land that they have kindly found for us.
There seems to be one or two People who seem to see a problem where there just isnt one this system has worked very well since the start

As a rule i post all the RARE rallys on the forum but on this occasion i held off till last Wednesdays club meeting because there was a mix up with the dates and i wanted to make sure that the rally on July 26th was on before posting it on here so ive got to take the blame lol

Thank you once again Digga for helping us (RARE) out and im sure youd do the same for any other Club

All the best
Phil Jones
