Title: OFFICIAL - DetectingWales.com 2-DAY RALLY IN LLANTWIT MAJOR - Sign Up Here Post by: proconsul on August 15, 2009, 08:46:53 PM On the weekend of September 5th - 6th DetectingWales.com will be holding a special two-day rally near Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan. The site is in an area of historical interest and close to the remains of a castle. We have been told that there has been little detecting on the site. We are expecting finds from the Roman period onward.
There is a campsite nearby where members can arrange to camp overnight. The telephone number is 01446 794024. Mention that you are with DetectingWales.com and you will be given a pitch in the same area as the other detectorists. Spouses, partners and children will be welcome at the campsite but only DetectingWales.com members over the age of 16 will be able to attend the actual rally. Tafflaff (Rob) will be bringing along a barbeque to the campsite and there will be a barbeque/get together for camping members at 7pm on the Saturday evening (BRING YOUR OWN FOOD). Unfortunately non-camping members will not be able to attend this as the campsite does not allow non-campers on their site. Members can come for the full two days or just one. Tickets are £10 for two days or £7 for one day. Pay on the day. Meeting time for the Saturday rally will be 9.30am and the rally will start at 10am. This later time is to allow time for campers to erect their tents. Members will be able to continue detecting on Saturday until 9pm. On Sunday the meeting time will be 9am and the rally will finish at 4.30 pm. Usual terms and conditions apply. Everyone who attends does so at their own risk and we recommend that everyone has civil liability insurance. If you are a member of a club you will probably already have this. Please check. The location of the rally will be sent by private message to everyone who has signed up the day before the rally. Thanks to Tafflaff (Rob) for finding the farm for us. We appreciate it. If you wish to come please sign up below this announcement. Please indicate whether you will be coming for 1 or 2 days. If you will be camping it will be the responsibility of members to make their own arrangements by ringing the number above. As the gas regulator on the camper failed on my trip last week, and the trip the month before I might give the camper a miss and use the car. Autosleeper....40 plus to the gallon, three regulators per year !!! If you will be camping it will be the responsibility of members to make their own arrangements by ringing the number above. When I asked the campsite about a late exit for Sunday he said they would accomodate us . I think I will ask Tuesday about setting up early as well. Couple of questions though . one thing, i rang the camp site and they said to turn up a 9 ( the earliest) so by the time we put up our tent and stuff its probably going to be way past 9:30 am. second question is what the hell do we bring to the barbie lol. we can bring beer or we can bring food. please let me know if you guys want anything and how much do we have to bring. where do we all meet or am i just bieng lazy and not reading backpost ( bear in mind i have only just got here so i will read back a few posts).
