i've narrowed it down to james 1st 3rd coinage, 1619 -1625.

the bust is possibly he sixth bust, of around 1621 -24.
spink 2668 or 2670 comes very close to it.

cheers

I reckon that shilling is from the first coinage looking through Spinks now. Peter, any chance of an ID when your on here next mate? Was shaking for a while after it popped out the soil. could've been found with the most basic of tectors was just under the surface. Just lucky to go over the top of it! ;D

It's a great find benny and was good to see it in the flesh. The mintmark on the reverse is clearly an escallop, which dates it to 1606-7. The mintmark on the obverse just looks like a blob, which is strange. I think the coin should be second coinage, fourth bust, Spink 2655.

I found an object  with what looks like a pin on the top,   do you think i should remove the pin,

its an egg terr, pull out the pin and sit on it to keep it warm. You may have  a slight ringing sensation in your ears....fortunately the rest of your body will no longer be near them.
