Title: finds from the chepstow rally 1.5 hammered, buttons and a arrow head?
Post by: kaister on February 01, 2010, 10:28:47 PM
there were 21 buttons but i lost 2, i think the stone is a arrow head(found in top field behind woods) eyes only in the same hole as yet another button.

the half is scottish but i havnt a clue to more details?
the whole is (i think) a henry 2nd type, richard 1st 1189-1199, spinks 1384b
still well chuffed what ever they are as they are my first hammered
Please correct me if i am wrong

I agree, the full coin is Richard I, and I think the class is 4b. I think the reverse reads HENRI ON LVN, ie London mint, moneyer Henri.

And the Scottish cut half is of the first coinage of Alexander III, dated 1250-1280. I can't make out the mint or moneyer of this one.

Both are great finds :)
