RALLY   Rally Price is £7.00 for any one day and £12 for both days.

As well as the normal rally we are planning a token hunt with some nice prizes and a Test Bed where you can trial your machine against other makes and users.

We may have members of the towns History Society wandering around the Rally site. They have been researching the farm and have taken an interest in our visit. They are Pro Detectorists and would love to see our finds.

We seem to have a good turn out for campsite and BBQ this time. Please remember its a bring your own drink and Food BBQ, what we did last year , and what Kiwi has started this year is a list of what people intend to bring. I'll move the list to below. There are a couple of pubs nearby, The Darlington Arms is only about .75 of a  mile away, It used to do B&B not sure about now but will check.
The Plough Inn, Wrington, Good food and good location. My ex local
The Golden lion typical village pub this too did do B&B, once again I will check
The Holiday Inn is practically opposite the camp site and is open to the public.
Having lived there for 10 years I can think of loads of B&B in the area, but can't remember their names, I will phone my ex and ask her for a list of the ones still current, then post it up.

OK these are close to the Camp site so would mean it would be easier to join in with the social side.

just a bit of info regarding camp site contacted site last night as i,m ariving in a big camper and the nice lady on the phone said that they only have a small number of hard standing sites on camp so booking early will ensure you a place, so basically book asap to avoid disapontment if you are staying in anything bigger than a vw camper.

Rob, please clarify. On the list of BBQ supplies, I notice people don't seem to be signing up to bring chicken and burgers, etc. Is that because they think they'll have to bring a load with them to feed everyone which could be quite expensive?

I dont know to be honest Leighton. The idea isnt to bring enough for everyone , but rather several people bring the same thing so as theres enough.

Right. Well let's get the ball rolling then. Put me down for ONE PACKET of burgers as well as the cooking oil I'm bringing. Hopefully then others will get the idea and follow suit.

that rules me out then, ive just  come out of being bankcrupt aint even set up a bank account yet, and what is a credit card ,aint seen 1 for 2 years. 

I am sure they will let you pay on the day in cash if you turn up at the campsite Paul - I doubt they will turn away business - especially off season mate.

Well just to wet your appetites the curry I am cooking will be an Aloo Gosht which is a traditional meat and potato curry from Pakistan (although this one will be using beef rather than lamb) it's a medium hot curry with a rich, thick sauce and potatoes fried in Ghee added just before serving. this will be served with nan bread heated on the bbq.

As we get closer to the date guys , lets see more people volunteering to bring different foods on the list , you can come up with other ideas for foodstuffs as well , let me know and i will add them to the list.

Found out theres a supermarket about 1.5 miles away from the campsite.  Thats going to make things easier keeping drink cold. Also the campsite have offered use of their freezer.

Rob I have been delivering and picking up from Alvis brothers literally a stones throw away at Redhill and have been to the area many times because of this and would offer any knowledge of the area if Geoff Chef needs any help or any other detectorists as well. I am sure I have seen Chef detecting on the ridge and furrow opposite the campsite next to the Holiday Inn. There is a van that does a mean breakfast roll on the A 38 road up to the Budgens and a filling station at Lower Langford as well.

Just wondered what time the cabaret started and are we having a find of the rally competition. Would also tell people to take there cameras and take lots of pics.

Depends how many people are going to want side salad, onions will go with the burgers , Chef how many do you recon ?

Well I'm working on 50 people, so I would say 6 cucumbers, 25 Toms and 20 medium onions

We will have members of the local Archaeological group attending the Rally site. They have been researching the farm and have taken an interest in our visit. They are Pro Metal Detecting  and would love to see our finds.

Chef Geoff has also managed to arrange for FIVE   F.L.O's to be in attendance on at least the Sunday and hopefully the Saturday. They will be based in the 12th Century Tythe Barn on the farm. We would like to emphasise how important it is to allow our finds over 300 years old to be registered by them onto the Portable Antiquities Scheme

Rob, what's the rule for people who are not camping but are attending the BBQ? I know that some sites insist that guests leave by 10pm or something. I don't know if anyone's planning to stay that long, but it's good to know.

it probably means 10pm the next night!!!!!

Sorry for the late notice,but i'm afraid i won't be able to attend the rally,i hope someone else will be able to take my place,i have pm'd Rob to let him know as i know he has put in a great deal of effort in organising things,I hope this won't cause any problems and am gutted i can't make it,hope it all goes well and best of luck to all attending :(

Leighton, the campsite have been told that there are a few non campers attending the BBQ. And have not asked for a penny more , also they have given all the leccy free of charge.

I was going to suggest a whip round for non campers and campers. A little good will gesture to the campsite owners.  What do we think people?

What are we doing about lighting? I could probably borrow a couple of halogen lamps from work. 240 volt plugs on them tho,what supply comes in off a campsite? Do we need a transformer or what?

No it's a normal 240v

240 V on a campsite , Not sure if its lit or not ??   Lighting may be something we need good thinking Benny the ball.

RALLY

As well as the normal rally we are planning a token hunt with some nice prizes and a Test Bed where you can trial your machine against other makes and users.

We will have members of the local Archaeological group attending the Rally site. They have been researching the farm and have taken an interest in our visit. They are Pro Metal Detecting  and would love to see our finds.

Chef Geoff has also managed to arrange for FIVE   F.L.O's to be in attendance on at least the Sunday and hopefully the Saturday. They will be based in the 12th Century Tythe Barn on the farm. We would like to emphasise how important it is to allow our finds over 300 years old to be registered by them onto the Portable Antiquities Scheme

Nick and Laura from Detecnicks will also be attending the two day Rally and Camping , they are bringing a range of stock with them, if there is anything specific you require please contact them prior to the Rally

CAMPSITE

The campsite is approximately 7 miles from the farm and will be £9.00 all in. They are keeping a field aside for us.

Payment for camping is up front ASAP in full. Please contact the Campsite below to PAY ASAP

Those planning on taking motorhomes or caravans are welcome but will need to phone and check prices as its only Tents I've made arrangements for .
