Title: Sov Elite Settings
Post by: ORDOVIC on March 19, 2010, 08:17:39 PM
Out this Sunday (weather permitting of course) detecting on a local beach low water,I always use the Sov in Disc mode, however I have been told I would find more deep coins If I were to detect in All metal.

What should I look out for signal wise when trying to locate the deep ones?

Hi
The sov is one of the best beach machines around. I find the all metal difficult to use on my local beaches because of the contamination and prefer to use it in discrim mode -you cover more ground with less digging and still get great depths. Dig any signal with a  background threshold tone no matter how poor or how low the signal sounds. If youve got a meter forget it dont use it . I start off with the sensitivity at 12 oclock and incease it(anticlockwise) as much as possible untill theres only slight fasleing .If you get a poor signal wiggle the coil over it very slightly and you can hear the higher tones kick in indicating a good deep find-oh and work very slow .  Maybe on your beach you can use all metal -for the deep finds you are looking for the faint signals and a slight rise in the backgroud threshold -but you have to set the threshold carefully for steadiness. Hope this helps and good luck

Thanks for the reply,

Do you use the 10" Tornado coil with your Sov ? or do you use a larger Coil
