viking got any idea as to age of this ??
is that a hallmark on its side?
its one of the best i've ever seen

Viking ive added this beauty to data base under post medieval-thimbles.
if you get a clearer pic i'll replace it.
if you would like to add more info, county found in, type of land, weight,hallmarks and size please PM me and i'll update record.
its one of the best ive ever seen and it would be a shame not to do it full justice in our database.

i found this silver thimble on a pasture field in neath where i found a hammie.  its haulmarked with a lion . ill try to do better pictures but my cameras not the best

Viking (ray) thanks for the info.
the lion's head only tells you its a London assay office mark.
heres a good link to hallmarks have a look see if you can get the exact year, its a very usefull PDF  file to keep as a reference
