Title: Which SEF coil for the ETrac?
Post by: JRD on September 23, 2010, 05:33:37 PM
Hi all,

I am about to buy an ETrac which comes with an 11" Double D coil as standard.

But in the deal I also get a choice of one of the following SEF coils 8"x6", 12"x10" or 15"x12"

Can't decide which SEF coil to choose?

I was thinking either 8x6 for trashy areas or the 15x12 to cover more ground.

Anyone have an opinion of which 'free' extra one I should choose and why?

Forget the 10x12 not enough difference between it and the Pro and it's heavier. The 12x15 will give you an extra inch or two but the 8x6 is a must around iron.
If it was me I would go for the 8x6.

Thanks Geoff that was kind of my thinking also but not sure if I was missing a trick by not getting the 15x12 (being it cost more as well and it's a 'freebie') but if it is only going to give me an extra couple of inces of the standard 11" it is probably not worth it?

A smaller coil is very useful amongst the stubble !  ;)

I agree with the above the pro coil is far superior to the older 11 " minelab coils and on par with the 12" SEF the 15" SEF has pros and cons better coverage a slight improvement in depth but heavier and more unweilding in stubble and all these work very well on wet sand beaches too.... to sum up if my trusty explorer II had been fitted with pro coil then i would not have gone for the SEF  regards PaulB. 8)

8x6 is the coil to go for, its a little Attila the Hun for hedge rows, ploughed furrows, stubble and especially for land infested with iron, best hammy whittler ever, i use it on my quattro this coil is just awesome, its also good on the beach , for getting in and out of them rocky areas and in the small sink holes around lone rocks etc
