I think it is John ,  Type 4c , Cantebury  Monyer - Hve

Great coin Alan. As far as I can see, your ID is correct Rob.

Not a common coin at all. The Mass collection of 2200 short cross coins doesn't have a full coin of this, just a cut half.

The mint signature CANTI may indicate Class 4b, but the obverse seems to have the reversed 'S' of class 4c, so it might be a 4c/4b mule.

Well worth recording, either on PAS, UKDFD or both.

I would like to have mine be one of them but no idea forgot to take photos good enough to Id an sent it packing to the flo.

Nice going Alan, what a find. Though morally I think you should of put it back as this is metal detecting and not "picking things up of the surface", I mean I would if it were me (ye right) ;D

LOL - thx guys - i blame techony -- he stopped me to talk ... after which i turned to the right and ..whoopee!!

coin will be going into FLO on the 18th of Feb. [along with the rose farthing,  medieval pot leg, thimble, crotal bells etc etc etc]
