Only managed just over an hour today as the rain got here earlier than forecast Angry It looks as if my little hammy reserve has dried up for this year so I'll have to seek them elsewhere, but what did come up was a copper alloy wedding band (female) this is the second one of these I've had from this farm the other being a man's wedding ring both would once have been gold plated, such were the realities of 19th century life.
Next another thimble 16th century and in nice condition, I'm beginning to warm to these thimbles I have to say.
And then after 33 years of waiting and proving as elusive as crotal bells Grin well to me, a coin that I've often thought is the most beautiful of any milled silver....a Gothic Florin, it's pretty worn but at last I have one.
THEN IT RAINED  Cry Wink

Nice one Geoff - one to tick off.

Good to see another Godless Florin found, they really are works of art.

And before you accuse me of giving it the wrong name  Wink:

"These first coins would have come as rather a shock to the public, as for the first time in nearly 200 years a British coin featured a portrait of the monarch wearing a crown. Even more of a shock, including (allegedly) to Queen Victoria herself, was the omission of D G – Dei Gratia ("by the grace of God") – from the coin's inscription, which resulted in it being popularly known as the godless florin."

We won't go down the "Joey" road! Wink

I always feel a tad sorry for the deceased owners of copper wedding rings - in the current state of affairs it looks like we are heading back that way!

See you soon mate

Neil this is a "Gothic" not a Godless, they are two different coins, Gothic's do have D.G. on them as this one does Tongue

Gothic

Godless
