Yesterday saw Deadlock, Shungav and Silky venture south from their border settlements for a days detecting on satellite button moon. These are the fields that have in the past given up Celtic, Roman and every era since and also the location of some sort of Civil War disagreement Cheesy
It's seen a great many people armed with detectors in the last year and a half but on the last couple of visits it has given up a gold posey ring (to me) and 3 Roman grots to Deadlock and a lovely Henry groat to Mchammered. So it was with mixed expectations that we started out on our days search.
I found it as quiet as expected given the hammering it has had though buttons and small pieces of lead were coming up from all over, proving that the diggable signals were still there to be had, by lunch time all we had to show for our efforts were as said the compulsory buttons, with Gav having a Vicky penny, me having a civil war musket ball and Alun having the find of the morning in the shape of MCHammered's trowel that he lost on the last visit Grin
Well the afternoon belonged well and truly to Silky with first a bullhead sixpence followed within the hour by an Eddy III penny. We struggled on until darkness fell, but no other really exciting finds showed themselves, but a great day out was hopefully had by all.

Silky, contemplating if this ones gold!!!!

COIL ABUSE!!!! Deadlock giving his machine a good kicking in frustration Cheesy

Shungav wondering if there is anything worse than stubble Wink

Silky's bounty for the day.

And this was my pitiful rewards for the day (less the buttons and lead)
