Anyone else having a problem with slugs in the garden this year because of the rain. I’ve given up on slug pellets, think I need a bazooka.

Well, lets just say they've eaten more Strawberries than me.

My allotment is being ravaged by them. I executed 17 in one small area the other evening.

As a rule I won't kill any of the creatures on this earth unless I intend to eat them - for slugs I make an exception to my rule!

There was a whole page article about the problem in the Daily Mail on Tuesday titled 'Invasions of the Slugs'. It went on to say:-

'And now the UK is under threat from a new and virtually indestructible Spanish variety.'

'The Arion flagellus, or Spanish stealth slug, grows more than four inches long and has a rampant breeding cycle that threatens to displace the British varieties.'

'The invaders are also interbreeding with native species, producing vigorous and powerful super-slugs.'
'In the U.S., the invaders have become so common they are a menace on the roads, creating big slicks of slime that can be dangerous for drivers.'

So there you go Neil yours could be a Arion flagellus....and there was silly me thinking that Arion flagellus was a roman emperor!!

I think the slug I’m fighting originated in Poland, it’s called a the vexatious blogger with incredibly itchy underpants Barfordous, covered in a thick slime, not very intelligent, hides in the dark and leaves a foul aftertaste.

The same Polish slug that collaborates with Nigel Swift reknowned for 'The Heritage Journal'. I know that slug. Yes very slimey indeed.

I keep finding them in the house, christ know how they are getting in?

A Sick of Slugs Neil

Neil,
That is either the biggest slug in the world or it's a normal size specimen, being held by the smallest person in the world!
And if it's you holding it,you've gone and left your jumper in the tumble dryer for too long again..

Dusty if they are the same size as Neil's they are big enough to reach the door handle and let themselves in. You will be finding them sleeping in you bed and using the shower next. Watch out!

thats bloody huge wow .i found slugs are particulary keen on john smiths but that bad boy might want something stronger lol
