Found this yesterday made of copper wire but made in to a ring looks old but does anyone else have one to compare it with. its around about 25 mm

The knot look's Viking to me, but they're normally in silver and with decoration.

Hi Deadlock. The ring you just posted from the Flo is almost identical to the one my partner Salop girl found back in 2004. Hers was base metal but had been gilded It had quite a bit of gilding remaining. This is what Peter Spencer from the Searcher ID & Valuation desk said about it.

"You say that the finger ring found by Andrea Thomson has been dated as Roman to 7th century. It just might be Roman but is more likely to to date from much later, circa 10th century. Twisted wire rings of this type are usually gold or silver. However, base metal examples also turn up"
