Nice find Geoff, its a half penny of Edward III with a 6 pointed star after ANG and DON Spink 1540A Smiley (star marked issue 1335-1343)

Reading up on your coin in one of my books, it says coins from this issue were struck in silver of slightly less fineness....reduced from .925 to .883 this unpopular change was reversed with the introduction of the third coinage.
