Hi guys, sorry I know I hog the forum sometimes with my posts Grin and it will be full of nice finds from the rally later, but I am really stuck on this item, found on roman and medieval activity area in Dorset. Its lead, looks really unusual could be later medieval but would like it to be roman. (wishful thinking)   Wink Thanks for looking. Wink

That is an odd one Paul Huh I've not a clue really but the only thing I can think it might be is part of a holy water stoup many people had these in their home at one time, I can't say I've seen one with a built in reservoir but then again I can't say I've seen many  Grin

Thats a really good call Geoff, typical as I am holding it upside down lol, I have to admit I had to look up Holy Stoup.  Wink if it is , fancy a date range I guess it could be quite wide.

I really wouldn't like to say Paul as my knowledge of them is not any better than yours, going by it's classical lines I'd say around the times of the grand tour so 17th-18th century Undecided

Dingdong, I can tell you that was my first thought mate, but I fancy Geoffs possible ID at the moment, don't get me wrong I would much sooner it be a roman altar.  Wink Wink either way its religious.
