This is my first time on your impressive site :-) . I've had a metal detector for years but somehow never got round to using it. I've recently got the urge to have a go and after reading on the net that my detector is regarded as not much more than a 'glorified toy' , I've ordered a new one and will pass my 'toy' detector on to my children. We had a go of my old detector this afternoon our back garden and found 2 tent pegs, a bottle top, a bent penny that looks like it was hit by a spade, a 10p coin a bent bit of metal and last but not least a Lesney Commer Pick-Up toy car from 1953. My son found the car and he was delighted as it was his favourite colour too :-). They are now both very keen to go to a beach with me sometime and I'm working on some home made sand scoops ready for our trip. I think I'm going to enjoy my new hobby  Smiley
   Happy hunting all,
     Neil.

Hi Neil and welcome to the site, great first post by the way and I'm glad your children enjoyed there first hunt. Whether they'll be as happy when your trying to drag them out of bed at 6 on a cold and wet November morn to go to the beach, we shall see  Grin
I hope you get some great results with your new machine and any queries just ask and I'm sure someone will have the answer for you.
Good luck with new hobby. Wink

Morning Neil UK  welcome to the site. Sounds as if your 'toy' machine will do it's job. Lets hope you have as much success with the new one. Some of us with 'proper' machines fail to find that much. Cry Cry

Great site, lots of very nice and helpful people if you need any advice on pretty well anything. Look forward to hearing what you and the boys find.
