Well that depends on the budget of course, lots go for the lite , personally I settled for the V3.2 with WS5 headphones, remote control, and although the package came with 9 inch coil, I purchased the 11 inch and use that 90% of the time it's deeper, better ground coverage and only very slightly heavier. This machine still amazes me on the tiny signals it picks up including cut 1/4 s.Not a serious beach machine though but I expect you know that. Good luck if you go for one Wink

Hi David the 13x11 coil, is heavy and balance poor, ok on ground coverage and  clean ground, but not an all rounder and not suited for hammered stick with 11 inch.  Wink

The Whites DFX with DD14 works well on really small targets on ploughed and pasture. I cannot advise what it's like on beach work as I rather inland.
Although the DFX is no longer available as a new unit, the MXT M6 are basically the same.
But I must admit that my mate using a Deus did pull a cut half behind me a few weeks ago  Undecided so, swings and roundabouts maybe.

I find that it isn't the machine after all they all detect metalic things!! There is no best machine in my opinion "some machines are deeper than others etc but it's all about how you use and get too know your machine how it works and if you walk over it you'll find it. Choose what best suits your budget, weight how easy it is too learn and stick it out. I know there's users who swear by what they use because they find stuff. Doesn't matter if you own a Deus, ace 250 or a mineland explorer xs your still going too find stuff including hammered.  Took me ages too find my first hammered and everyone seemed too be talking about them and then wamm I found my first then many followed because I know how careful I had too be when listening for the tones. Now I'm gone like a whippet in the field I know alot disagree with this method off approach but it seems too work out fine for me! One little tone and I'm on it like a hoover lol.  I purchased the new Nike air max trainers otherday not because I think they'd make me jump higher or run faster but because I'm comfortable with them Wink

Your rite of course it's preferance and some machines are indeed better than others take the Deus for example it's better than most machines on hammered  Grin Wink yes you will find stuff with any machine if you go over it but some machines are more suited to specific conditions and sites, the Deus does excell on hammered sites and definantly get to know your machine which is not that hard if you put the ground work in. Your method works so it can't be knocked Im some ware between your search method and mathodical searching keep finding those hammered hoover Wink
