Hey there,

I found this last night, Nice little intaglio and frame, think it was once a fob as there seems to be some attachment points on the rear where something has broken off.
Think possibly Georgian?

Very nice find hotmill.  I think it's more likely to be a Cameo Brooch. They were very popular in Viccy times.

I thought so too Val, but after reading some info on the internet it said that intaglios have the  likeness carved into the stone whereas cameos have the stone carved around the likeness so it is proud of the surface. It's a new type of find for me so whichever it is I like it  Smiley

Can't argue that one hotmill.  I think we seem to assume that carved 'portraits' are always cameo which wouldn't show up in an overhead photo.

I've always had trouble with horizontal v vertical, concave v convex, left v right. I think it's a woman thing  Roll Eyes

As you said, nice whatever. Lovely find.
