just straightened and cleaned gambos hammered from last weeks glastonbury rally.wish it was mine its a lovely coin in very good condition,he also had a trade weight or i think it is,here are the pics anyway  Wink

Nah, its a Richard 1 penny 1189-1199ad. Spinks type 1348c 4b.

The moneyer was illiterate and couldnt spell his name. it looks like TRVENE O N.LN which is not a known moneyer. It could also be a very poor attempt at steven but several of the letters are misshapen.

I checked King John but couldnt find one with a Sceptre on the right and Spink doesnt show Stivene as a moneyer for John. You may be right about the book Geoff.

I'm afraid Spink was developed as a sales catalogue of coins they sell and contains only about an eighth of the actual number of British coins that are out there.
