Since my last post I have managed to return to the field I had found the roman 4thc coins and have now increased my total to 17, Smiley whilst there are three different reverse designs on all the coins, and clearly a narrow date range I am not sure it is part of a hoard!, there is clearly roman activity here as can be seen from the pictures of the brooches I have now found, also large amounts of pottery and lead, as can be seen I have also found a little silver hammered Elizabeth 1st, plus a thimble and part of a roman ring, I would be interested in any thoughts on the small buckle being just over 14mm, I have found 100s of buckles over the years but not like this one, I would like to think it was roman as ever thing else has been, but could be medieval. The farmer has informed me the field should be ploughed next week so I am eagerly awaiting a return visit subject to the weather of course and will keep you updated on any future finds. I am of too Belan- Bach lodges in Llangadfan for four days tomorrow to explore around with a few friends might try and hide my machine in the boot (beaches) or maybe a sledge if the weather forecast is anything to go by will catch up on return.

Celticspikey, is it definitely a buckle? My first impressions from the photo was that it could be a squashed buckle ring.

It great when you find a productive site, mine had green waste dumped on it last year, that's finished that one off.  Sad Grab what you can, as you don't know what could happen to your site in the future.
