Well the Deus keeps on coming up trumps. Spent a couple of hours after work last night on a field I've recently had a couple of hammered pennies off. Usual tale really, had found an assortment of pennies, halfpennies, bits of lead/copper/brass etc. Had a lovely couple of hours in the evening Sun and was making my way back to the car when I decided to have a quick blast around a clump of rocks that have probably been avoided by farmers for years when ploughing the field.
I had the Deus on a tweaked Basic 1 programme with the frequency around 11.7 Khz. Initially the signal was not that good and had a slight Iron buzz but as I was about to call it a day I thought ' what the hell I'll dig it'
The coin was about 6 inches down and came out in a clump of mud which I had to break apart to find it. Must admit when I did see it I was frozen in shock for about 30 seconds until it registered what it was.

I think it is a George 1st 1723 half guinea, pretty good condition

Saying I am chuffed would be an understatement.

Cracking piece of Gold, well done hotmill Wink Smiley Wink Smiley
