I am presuming its bronze and a lovely patina colour.

i've seen a similar patterned head on a roman nail cleaner, found by a member of our local team.

i think that the patina of nomads object suggest roman.

it maybe a roman or early saxon top of a staff!!?? its solid bronzeand not cast it could be bronze age but the head looks saxonish

Again it is a lovely find. It for sure is not Bronze Age. My best bet would be Roman but as the Doc says would like to see some more pics of the underneath and the other side. Could you put a measure in the picture for scale as well. Thanks Nomad.

Very nice find Nomad

It has a very pagan look about it, Ive never found anything even sightly zoomorphic its high on this years wish list .
Maybe you should let your local PAS have a butchers at it
